Meet Our Team

Rachael is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with over nine years of experience in treating a wide range of mental health conditions. As the founder and lead provider at Southern Oregon Psychiatry, she is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to her patients. Rachael’s expertise extends to a diverse range of conditions, and she is adept at treating adults with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, trauma-related conditions, and thought disorders such as schizophrenia.

Rachael earned her master’s degree with a specialization in psychiatry from the prestigious University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to pursuing graduate school, she completed her studies in psychology, criminology, and nursing at Oregon Health & Science University.

Open minded and direct in her approach, Rachael believes in highly personalized treatment informed by the most current, evidence based research in neuropsychiatry as well as complementary and alternative treatments. She draws upon her training at the Veterans Health Administration (VA) Hospital, where she provided specialized care to veterans grappling with anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Rachael has completed additional training in mindfulness-based stress reduction, dialectical behavioral therapy, ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, and vinyasa yoga, allowing her to offer a holistic approach to healing.

Prior to establishing Southern Oregon Psychiatry, Rachael made significant contributions in the field of consult-liaison (CL) psychiatry at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA. In this specialized role, she focused on diagnosing and managing psychiatric disorders that coexist with medical conditions, including neurological, endocrinological, rheumatic, and cardiovascular illnesses. Rachael also brings valuable experience in psychiatric emergency services and inpatient behavioral health, further enhancing her ability to offer comprehensive care.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Rachael finds joy in camping and backpacking with her two dogs and studying viticulture and oenology.
