Meet Our Team

Rachael Gordon, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner & founder of Southern Oregon Psychiatry with over 12 years of experience treating a broad range of mental health conditions. She works with adults across Oregon & California and is adept at treating individuals with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, trauma-related conditions, & thought disorders (e.g. schizophrenia).

Rachael earned her master’s degree with a specialization in psychiatry from the top program at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Prior to pursuing graduate school, she completed her studies in psychology, criminology, & nursing at Oregon Health & Science University.

Open minded yet direct in her approach, Rachael believes in highly personalized treatment informed by the most current, evidence -based research in neuropsychiatry as well as complementary & alternative treatments. Treatment may include psychiatric medication management, de-prescribing, nutritional & lifestyle interventions, and ketamine-assisted treatment. 

Her background includes consult-liaison psychiatry at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA, where she managed complex interactions between psychiatric & medical conditions, including neurological, endocrine, rheumatic, and cardiovascular illness. She also brings experience in inpatient psychiatry & psychiatric emergency services. Earlier in her career, she trained at the Veterans Health Administration, working with veterans experiencing PTSD, depression, anxiety, & substance use disorders.

Rachael takes into consideration the full context of a patient’s life, including diet, exercise, developmental history, relationships, and faith/spirituality when developing a plan aimed at improving overall functioning, not just reducing symptoms. Her practice is independent & free from pharmaceutical industry influence.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Rachael finds joy in camping & backpacking with her two dogs & spending time with family.
